MY BACKGROUND
I have a well-rounded background in Clinical Psychology as well as special training in Health Psychology. I've worked many years in a variety of places, including private practice, college counseling centers, mental health clinics, and medical settings. Formerly, I was the Health Psychologist for Sac State University where I helped to develop a multidisciplinary Fitness, Healthy Eating, and Lifestyle Program in addition to providing counseling for university students. I also supervised doctoral psychology students, collaborated on wellness programming, and gave lectures and workshops.

MY PHILOSOPHY
My approach can best be described as integrative, meaning I use a combination of different treatment philosophies, depending on the person, situation, and context. We may apply cognitive-behavioral strategies, explore the meaning and dynamics of patterns and relationships, consider mind-body interactions, or pursue acceptance and mindfulness. No matter the strategy, I believe that the therapist/client relationship is paramount and encourage you to take an active role in the process. Additionally, we may start with one strategy and move towards another as you progress and change. I am practical and optimistic by nature, so I want to offer you the best that research has found effective, as well as to meet your needs and preferences. I will encourage you to be proactive and to share your thoughts and feelings about our work together.
